Nimrud Rising is an immersive virtual reality recreation of the Palace of Ashurnasirpal II in the ancient Assyrian capital of Nimrud. In March, 2015 Daesh terrorists barrel bombed the site. Nimrud Rising transports viewers to the palace, just eighteen miles south of Mosul in Iraq and still under the control of Daesh. Scientific Director Dr. Donald Sanders of Learning Sites, Inc, and Executive Producer Peter Herdrich are developing Nimrud Rising to response to this destruction. We are rebuilding the Palace through the game-changing medium of immersive VR; offering a chance to learn about this ancient civilization, the site, and its wonders; and responding with a resounding “No” to cultural heritage destruction.
